.IT Domains

Introduced in 1987, Italy’s .IT country-specific domain name extension is very popular both within the country and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for forming inventive and catchy domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to construct an easy-to-remember domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to go back to your website or to share it with colleagues and friends. The TLD can also be used for a website, which is connected to the technology sector given that IT is an abbreviation, which is accepted all over the world.

Given the fact that dot IT domains are not offered directly by IT-NIC, the Registry that manages this top-level extension, such a domain can be purchased through a third-party firm, such as ours. We will manage the registration process for you and take care of submitting your application to the Registry. You can obtain a .IT domain for no more than one year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to us and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. The sole restriction is that the person acquiring such a domain should be located in a member state of the European Union.

Because there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of various regions and localities in Italy reserved for local third-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical areas of any kind are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion. We do not offer such 3rd-level domains, though, because they can be registered only by locals.
